ARTIST BIO

Kathy Welte received her first camera at the age of 12 developing an interest in recording the events in the life of her family. As a young adult her 3 children became the main focus of her photography. When her children were grown and she became an empty nester she joined the Erie Photography Club where speakers, seminars, conventions and competition fueled an interest in Fine Art Photography.

Kathy has been a member of the Erie Photography Club since 2003 where she served the club as vice-president for 7 years. She is also a proud member of the Photographic Arts Society of Northwest Pennsylvania serving as vicepresident for 1 year and as President for 6 years. Kathy is also a member of Presque Isle Artist Association.

She has mastered many editing techniques in Adobe Photoshop Elements, Lightroom, NIK and other software and is available for private lessons. She was also a speaker for 3 years at the Art of Photography. Her work has been shown at local galleries; Main Street Art and Sticks & Stones Artisan Shop in Girard, PA and Gallery 104 in Edinboro, PA.

Her work is shown at many juried and non-juried art shows including; the Barber Center, Independent Council on Aging at Mercy Center, Meadville Center for the Arts as well as many others. Being accepted into the 2014 Erie Art Museum Spring Show is one of her greatest accomplishments as an artist.
