Jill McCoy Burr


ARTIST BIO

Jill started capturing subjects in the early 70s as a student at the Ivy School of Professional Art in Pittsburgh, Pa. Several of her photos were featured in the school’s portfolio including a self-portrait. After graduating from art school, she started her career at Sears North Central Zone designing ads.

She has won several awards for her work not only locally but nationally. After submitting a photo to Raymond Gaymon, a retired National Geographic photographer, her entry was one of five chosen throughout the world for his publication. Her work can be seen in local businesses around Corry. Her one woman show “Faces Through the Lens”, exhibited Jill’s love of capturing people and their unique expressions.

To further her education in photography she has taken classes at Miracle Mountain Ranch and specialty lighting in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Photographing in black and white is a passion for her. To Jill, black and white gives her work a special feel.

Jill is a member of the Franklin County Photography Club plus the founder of the Corry Area Photography Club.

She is co-owner of 3 Broke Girls Gallery located in the historic Cameron building in downtown Corry, Pa.

Showing people how she sees the world through her lens and inspiring young photographers is very special to her. Also sharing simplicity styles gives one a chance to look at the simple things in a different light.


ARTIST STATEMENT
I love to capture moments in time. Showing people how I see the world through by lens is a passion. Seeing other photographers work definitely inspires me to continue to grow in my  craft.
